Solution

In providing compassionate care to patients, healthcare professionals can be used to assist in providing comfort in some of the hardest times of peoples lives. This comfort derives from compassionate care that is provided by providing patients with the education they need to care for themselves/others, actively listening, and building trust. “You may even be in a position where you are a patient’s confidant, as they may feel like you are a trusting individual who will listen to them in a way that those closest to them cannot. This emotional care is pivotal and can have a significant impact on your patient’s overall experience” (University of The Cumberlands, 2022). Ethics and Christian values are relatable and can be applied to health and healing. “Beneficence, nonmaleficence, autonomy, and justice constitute the 4 principles of ethics. The first 2 can be traced back to the time of Hippocrates “to help and do no harm,” while the latter 2 evolved later” (AACN, n.d.). For example, beneficence is an act of mercy and kindness, which are two characteristics that are Biblical. “Spiritual care is one of the important and essential aspects of healthcare. The impact of spirituality on healing, health-related states, and the ability to cope and adapt to the disease is undeniable” (Varkey, 2021).
