Solution

Compassionate care can promote healing not only on a physical level, but it can also promote spiritual healing. When I think of Christianity and how it relates to the care healthcare professionals provide for patients, I think of love. The bible commands us to love one another, and part of the definition of love is to be patient and kind. It can have such a significant impact on patients and is such a great demonstration of compassionate care. “Therapeutic approaches such as establishing safe relations with the patient, showing empathy, listening to the patient’s concerns and values, learning about the patient’s religious beliefs that affect the meaning of the illness and supporting the patient’s religious beliefs and practices are nursing interventions within the scope of spiritual care” (Türkben & Özdemir, 2022). As human beings, we have an obligation to demonstrate compassion to others; furthermore, as healthcare professionals it is not only a job requirement, but it is also a Christian obligation. “Human beings were created to know and love God in perfect relationship to him. More than that, they were meant to reflect the character and goodness of God in all of life. This is a description of the way things ought to be.” (Bogue et al., 2024).
