Solution

The emphasis on love, compassion, and service to others in Christian spirituality has a direct impact on the way nurses deliver care. Christian spirituality, which has its roots in the teachings of Jesus Christ, promotes viewing each patient as a unique person made in God’s image (Genesis 1:27). Deep empathy is fostered by this viewpoint, which results in patient-centered, holistic treatment that attends to emotional and spiritual demands in addition to physical ones.

The idea of servant leadership, which Jesus exemplified by washing his disciples’ feet (John 13:12–17), is central to Christian spirituality. When nurses put patients’ comfort, dignity, and respect first, they are demonstrating humility and a selfless desire to care for others. Furthermore, regardless of a patient’s history, beliefs, or medical condition, the biblical teaching to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31) emphasizes the value of treating them with kindness, patience, and unconditional regard.

Christian spirituality can also assist nurses in managing the emotional strain of providing care. Nursing professionals can remain compassionate even in high-stress situations by finding strength and resilience in prayer, faith, and trust in God’s plan (Shelly & Miller, 2006).
