Using the Walden Library

Where can you find evidence to inform your thoughts and scholarly writing? Throughout your degree program, you will use research literature to explore ideas, guide your thinking, and gain new insights. As you search the research literature, it is important to use resources that are peer-reviewed and from scholarly journals. You may already have some favorite online resources and databases that you use or have found useful in the past. For this Discussion, you explore databases available through the Walden Library.

Note: Unless otherwise noted, initial postings to Discussions are due on or before Day 3, and response postings are due on or before Day 6. You are required to participate in the Discussion on at least three different days (a different day for main post and each response). It is important to adhere to the weekly time frame to allow others ample time to respond to your posting. In addition, you are expected to respond to questions directed toward your own initial posting in a timely manner.

Solution

I choose the following topic because it is never a priority in healthcare, and it guided my decision in becoming a mental health practitioner. I choose to do my discussion on burnout in nursing which is such an underrated issue. Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare delivery system, but they exhibit the highest level of burnout. Burnout and stress can negatively impact patient care because nurses are too exhausted to perform to the best of their ability. Burnout is a significant risk factor for developing depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions in nurses and this why we need to make these issues known because our nurses are suffering mentally while taking care of others.

I used the Walden Library database to access several peer reviewed articles, case studies, and books. After several attempts to find the perfect article or book, I finally came across a book that explains how to enhance professional quality of life while dealing with burnout in healthcare.

I did not have issues accessing the material but do wish that there were more variety of articles or books to choose from for this topic.
