Assume you were rejected for a position you applied to, based on the selection methods used. Discuss the concepts of reliability and validity as they relate to recruitment and selection practices. Why are both factors critical when considering which selection method to use in making hiring decisions? Additionally, evaluate how your organization’s current recruitment and selection process addresses Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) alongside reliability and validity. Provide specific examples or experiences where possible to illustrate your points.
Solution
When we apply for a certain job we want, sometimes we don’t get the position because someone with more experience gets the position. We can discuss what reliability and validity can relate to the recruitment and selection committee. Reliability and validity are two of the most important quality tool that are used for the employee screening or a testing and with the reliability and validity they are both critical in the hiring process. When a person would take a test with two forms or at the same time it would separate the times and the score at the same time. Than these two testing would be reliable to use. This also demonstrate that validity of the test that was administered it would measure the performance on the score of the test.
These test were not required for any employment or any position. The test were also tracked as part of the employees database and the validity. Within the organization I was working with there was really no diversity, since everyone was the same race and mixed gender (male and female). The recruitment that we do was that we had to receive everyone’s application, and give the application to the Human Resource and from there it went to the School Board which they look and approved and it was actually the CEO’s and the Human resources job to fulfill the position. The selection committee would look at resume, knowledge and skills and the ability to work.
