SHRM’s mission is to empower organizations and employees through human resource practices and maximizing the potential in everyone. They look to do this by creating a world of employment opportunities to fit all individuals. SHRM looks to be the voice and the liaison for both employees and employers from a variety of angles to include expert, research, and advocacy. They also aim to be the authority on topics related to innovations and issues related to the workplace.
The effects of COVID-19 impacted HR as guidance rapidly evolved and changed during that time. They needed to remain current on state and federal paid leave laws. Another topic carrying some overlay with COVID-19 is the Return to Office Mandates. The expansion of resources is prominently posted throughout the site to include toolkits, the Telehealth Benefit Expansion for Workers Act of 2023 (H.R. 824), and the Interstate Mental Health Compact Agreements.
