Looking at the Society for Human Resource Management also known as SHRM website it offers a lot of different resources and seminars that someone can obtain. It is clear what the role of SHRM is based on its mission statement. The goal overall for this organization is to maximize human potential. I think this is important in all organizations for many reasons. Increasing human potential can increase efficiency and effectiveness of an organization. SHRM stated that their purpose is to elevate Human Resources. Looking at the information provided on the website civility is one of the key steps in guiding human resource (HR) professionals. I feel that civility is crucial in order to have people work hand in hand together for the betterment of an outcome.
There are a lot of different resources listed that a member can use in order to assist HR professionals. There are many educational programs as well as team training and development to aid HR professionals. Different forms that are available to an HR professional to use include I-9 Audit Checklists, forms to help review I&D strategies, a BEAM framework, how to guides, and many different employee surveys in order to help HR professionals guide staff with support of leaderships needs in a workplace.
Finally COVID-19 not only changed the way the HR functions, it changed how the world functions. A lot of different things change post COVID-19 and it forced HR professionals to adapt to the needs of working staff. Managing staff who obtained COVID, organizing staff on getting vaccinations, focusing on staff wellbeing, managing staff who went to work from home, while also addressing inequalities played a major role and was the front seat of HR professionals. Luckily, SHRM was doing research since March of 2020 and came up with a lot of different tools in order to make sure HR professionals were successful. This included ready COVID-19 resource tools, new regulations, guidelines on supporting staff who obtain long COVID, key requirements for post pandemic safety compliance, and yearly updated EEOC guidelines on COVID-19. Overall, SHRM has immense resources that can aide HR professionals in creating a wonderful workplace for not only staff but leadership as well.
