Using the Walden Library

Where can you find evidence to inform your thoughts and scholarly writing? Throughout your degree program, you will use research literature to explore ideas, guide your thinking, and gain new insights. As you search the research literature, it is important to use resources that are peer-reviewed and from scholarly journals. You may already have some favorite online resources and databases that you use or have found useful in the past. For this Discussion, you explore databases available through the Walden Library.

Database Used:

For this discussion I accessed this article through ScienceDirect, a useful database that includes journals like The Journal for Nurse Practitioners, which is indexed in CINAHL and Scopus .

Difficulty and Utilization:

During my research, I experienced a few problems with using keyword selection and filters to get results for peer reviewed articles. To fix this, I applied filters pertinent to peer reviewed and full text articles. This helped to narrow down the results.

Database Selection:

This database is super helpful in regard to healthcare, particularly those who are in advanced practice nursing roles. It provides a broad selection of peer-reviewed articles, evidence based practices, and continuing education information that pertains to advanced nursing.

Recommendation:

I would suggest this database because of its lengthy coverage of related topics, ability to easily use the search features, and it includes quality, peer reviewed information that is supportive to evidence based practice and professional growth.
