Using the Walden Library

Where can you find evidence to inform your thoughts and scholarly writing? Throughout your degree program, you will use research literature to explore ideas, guide your thinking, and gain new insights. As you search the research literature, it is important to use resources that are peer-reviewed and from scholarly journals. You may already have some favorite online resources and databases that you use or have found useful in the past. For this Discussion, you explore databases available through the Walden Library.

Note: Unless otherwise noted, initial postings to Discussions are due on or before Day 3, and response postings are due on or before Day 6. You are required to participate in the Discussion on at least three different days (a different day for main post and each response). It is important to adhere to the weekly time frame to allow others ample time to respond to your posting. In addition, you are expected to respond to questions directed toward your own initial posting in a timely manner.

Solution

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) student, I found the article Telehealth and the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner: Beyond the COVID-19 Pandemic especially relevant. It reinforced many of the shifts I’ve witnessed firsthand during my clinical experience, particularly how telehealth has transitioned from an emergency tool during the pandemic to a sustainable component of psychiatric care.

While searching for the article, I encountered minimal difficulty. CINAHL Plus with Full Text database provided a smooth and user-friendly experience. At first, I wasn’t sure how to refine my search, but after applying filters like publication date, source type, and subject headings, I quickly located peer-reviewed literature that was both current and directly applicable to my field.

I believe this database would be very useful to my colleagues. It provides access to a wide range of evidence-based nursing and health literature, making it a valuable resource for research and academic assignments. Additionally, the availability of full-text articles supports in-depth review and application of findings to clinical practice.

Yes, I would recommend this Database. CINAHL Plus with Full text is comprehensive; it enhances access to current and reliable information, which is important for evidence-based practice, and it has allowed me to remain up to date with current practices, especially as telepsychiatry continues to evolve.
