Solution

I wanted to discuss the National Patient Safety Goals regarding Surgery, primarily procedural consents. Recently at my workplace, we have switched to fully online surgical consents. This has been quite a dramatic change giving that we have always had paper copies that we were able to edit easily if we needed to make changes to the procedure with the patient. The nice thing about it is that we are now able to view all the documents electronically and do not need to call the per-procedural staff to confirm that all documentation has been signed with the appropriate parties. Technology has had a huge impact on healthcare and continues to impact it in out everyday lives. It is definitely a learning curve every time technology comes out with a new way of doing things but it usually always benefits the patients and organization.
