As technology continues to advance, organizations are using social media and online platforms to attract and acquire eligible employees. What methods and specific websites are currently being used in your organization to attract and acquire potential employees online? As a job seeker, reflect on the benefits and challenges of using social media platforms, such as LinkedIn, for finding employment. What are the drawbacks that an employer faces when using websites to attract future employees for positions and how can these drawbacks be reduced?

Solution

The for-profit organization HCA Healthcare currently utilizes multiple social media platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, and Youtube as a means of both promoting its facilities to patients but also to potential future employees. Beyond these social media platforms, eligible employees can explore their main career page that allows users to search for their next potential career through search filters and the ability to directly upload resumes. According to Dessler (2023), the use of a talent management software allows employers the ability to match potential employees to the best new role, identify the most qualified candidate quickly, identify the gaps and needs within their own organization for both positions and diversity, and compare potential employees quickly. This can be done through platforms such as LinkedIn which, according to Johnson and Leo (2020), has become the main source of both job searchers and employers for hiring. According to Johnson and Leo (2020), job seekers often face the difficulty of job searching strategies such as when, how often, and how to search for their potential future career and may often not receive feedback from employers or little to no communication when experiencing rejection. The organization in turn must also filter through large volumes of potential employees making finding the right candidate equally as challenging and potentially passing up equally qualified candidates.
