I work in healthcare and Human Resources plays a major role within my own role and the functionality of the hospital. In many ways leadership works hand in hand with Human Resources and requires productive communication in order to successfully manage the nearly 10,000 nurses alone are that employed within the hospital I work at. There are many different elements that Human Resources works on in order to effectively management staff in my workplace. One of the major things that Human Resources does in my workplace is talent acquisition. There are so many different candidates that apply to a certain role and Human Resources makes sure that are qualified and able to work within the parameters of the job. Human Resources also manages our personal needs such as a personal leave, upholding attendance requirements, and making sure our leadership teams are creating a safe environment for staff to work in. Human Resources also manages our benefits and retirement.
One of the biggest elements that require vast strategic management is employee retention. There are many different programs with the workplace that aim to focus on employee retention. Some different programs that my establishment offers under the Human Resource umbrella is tuition reimbursement, student loan debt programs, higher rate of paid time off accrual, yearly money set aside for educational expenses, and free counseling programs. I believe these are all strategic programs that not only help the wellbeing of staff but they aide the employee in finishing the value of working for a specific organization. Having these different programs enhance the lives of employees and in return it improves the efficiency and effectiveness of the workplace.
